Today's Red Kite at Lytchett Fields RSPB looks like a different individual to the one from 31/1. And the Sparrowhawk didn't turn up until I had already got my wellies on, so I managed to get photos of it

One of #RSPB Lodmoor's many black headed #gullsinwater. An elegant yet badly named gull with a white head in winter and a brown one in summer!

Lytchett fields was a bit raptor-y. Putting my wellies on, a Sparrowhawk flew past being mobbed. Walking down Watery Lane, this Red Kite flew low over the water works. Heading for RLV, our Kestrel was in a new tree.

How it started 👍

How it ended 🤦‍♂️

White-tailed Eagle (adult) coming in to land at Arne Moors, Dorset.

Also in the wider area: Goshawk, Merlin, Marsh Harrier, Buzzard, Kestrel. All told, a pretty decent morning for raptors.

Even though more common now I still get excited seeing Med Gulls, so was buzzing when we just stumbled across a flock of c330 in a random field SE of Dorchester (along A352)!

There were 19 Snipe in this channel recently cut by the council at Hatch Pond in Poole. You can sort of see 10 (I think) in the wide shot taken with my phone. Only a few were still there when I returned with my camera!

@annaaubrey.bsky.social We should be about peak at Studland now
However, Waders numbers aren't particularly high this winter & it's the same for GC Grebes & RB Mergansers. So, there should be many more birds in Brands Bay
@harbourbirds.bsky.social @dorsetbirdclub.bsky.social #DorsetBirds
Lovely two hours Brands Bay perfect tide/winter sun What I noticed was the abundance of all species. Nothing stood out just birds everywhere.
Are we at peak yet ?
