UPDATE.A prompt response from Finland confirms that this is only the Fourth recovery of a Finnish ringed Rock Pipit in England.Ringed as a Nestling in Saltvic Archipelago SW Finland 27,06,2025. and recorded Lowestoft 03,11,2025 #suffolkbirdgroup #bto #ukbirding #birdingfinland #rockpipit

Our colour ringing season at Lytchett Bay is off to a great start with 5 Water Pipit & 5 Rock Pipit marked (under license) already. Please look out for yellow (Water) and white (Rock) marked birds and report all sightings 🙏 #Dorsetbirds

Surprisingly decent morning on Lytchett patch in continuing unhelpful weather. 5 Goosander were first of the year. Bar Wit, Green Woodpecker and Bullfinch all notable. CR head starter Curlew and Wigeon up to 530 (in the 90's they were almost a rarity here!) @dorsetbirdclub.bsky.social #Dorsetbirds

Good news on Dorset Cirl Buntings continues to arrive. Early data from the breeding season confirms they are continuing to re-establish a population in the county. Please submit any outstanding records now. 🙏 In winter our focus switches to feeding flocks - please send us all sightings. 🙏

I religiously enter eBird data. I am a scientist by profession and eBird makes me feel I am adding to the data available to today’s scientists to progress our knowledge. It has helped me engage with my birding in many ways that were not possible during my previous birding period in the 90s.

As a county bird recorder I can honestly say that the best and easiest way for you to make your birding count, is to upload them to either eBird or BirdTrack. Doing so contributes directly to #ornithology and bird #conservation at both local and national levels.

Just when I thought I was going end my 9th autumn week on Holy Island without an island tick.....this occasional visitor came to the rescue. Well actually eleven of them 😆 As said, they all count.

We have reached Holy Island. It's still westerly and forecast to remain that way. 🥲 At least the sky is interesting 🤣 Actually the birds weren't too bad. Accrued 73 species on various wanders on foot from the digs. Whoopers in off the sea probably the best among them.

It is perfectly possible to unconditionally condemn an antisemitic terrorist attack against Jewish people AND white nationalist terrorist attacks against Jewish people and Muslims AND Israel's terrorist attacks and genocide against Palestinians AND Hamas' terrorist attacks against Jews and Israel.
