My daughter wanted to be an astronaut. (I have a million stories about that.). But now she wants to be a medical researcher. LAME! She has an incredibly rare disease (fortunately not at all fatal) that she wants to dedicate her life to researching. I don’t see why she can’t do the research on Mars.

Having children is a choice & children don't consent to be conceived by the people they are conceived by. If you can't dedicate your life nearly completely to your children, DO NOT HAVE THEM.
Something I think a lot of estranged parents probably have in common is that they didn't enjoy being parents and their kids could tell.

The furry economy thrives on art, so there's a longer history of those being able to dedicate themselves to their craft because the monetary support was there earlier in history and their career.
