Schumer:
That answer is exactly why you need to leave congress!
After all the lies that Trump and the GOP have said you still take them at their word???

He took their word for it. Are you fucking kidding me with this? Katie Miller is posting pics of Greenland painted in a US flag with the word "Soon".
Perhaps it's time for more than taking their word for it then sending a sternly worded letter.

Western media wouldn’t give Zelenskyy the chance to defend his democracy’s right to exist in 2022, and yet he managed to break their wall of disinformation and the language barrier by using his cell phone to do Fireside Chats—but we have no FDRs today in the party

Is your point that the Democrats can't get on TV and speak to the American people? Because I'm pretty sure Schumer can get an interview if he wants one.

Chuck Schumer: The Trump administration lied to me in three separate briefings about their plans for Venezuela.

The Democrats: WE DEMAND A FOURTH BRIEFING IMMEDIATELY.

Heather Cox Richardson explains why the invasion of Venezuela is so significant & why what we do in the next few months will determine whether we live in a democracy or dictatorship.
Absolutely worth every minute of your time.

My hope that there are limits to the cowardice in Congress is dwindling. Schumer and Jeffries are the poster boys for the Democrats. The portait of complicity and treason among the Republicans is simply a group photo, all of them with their assholes fully clenched.

An immensely tired & uninformed take.

Canada currently:

- exports >4x Venezuelan crude shipments

- that supply is linked to American refineries by pipelines that travel one direction (south)

- no one is rushing into Venezuela to roll the dice *again* on whoever replaces Maduro

I don’t know who needs to hear this but this is all batshit crazy. We now “own” Venezuela, US troops will take over, & as I said months ago Trump will steal all the oil. And this insane regime didn’t even bother fabricating evidence to justify this. Meanwhile, Republicans have surrendered Congress

The Trump admin has fused the war on terror with the war on drugs to create a framework for justifying its own acts everywhere from Chicago to Caracas.

Remember the helicopter raid on a Chicago apartment building? A key rationale was to go after the Venezuelan TdA.*

Same with Caracas raid.

It’s hard to believe a president would time an illegal military attack to distract the public’s attention, but today is the statutory deadline for DOJ to release its report on the Epstein file production. Maybe it is just a coincidence.

That one person can drag us into a war without consulting or even notifying Congress, or our allies, or fully explaining to the American people why this is necessary, is absolutely bonkers.

Reminder that Congress has the power to stop all of this. Where the hell are they?

I am once again asking why Stephen Miller is a principal on foreign policy issues. He was at the meeting with Ukraine and Israel. His official title is Homeland Security Advisor, but appears to have a hand in any policy domain he wants.
the photographer was definitely like, "ok everybody, look tough!" but we know they're all just reading tweets with their arms crossed in a country club dining room divided up by bedsheets tacked to the beams

These freaks want territorial expansion and they know Trump will do everything he can to deliver.

This isn’t just a tweet from some random asshole either. This is Stephen Miller’s wife. Miller was in the room with Trump during the kidnapping of Maduro.

“What appears to be a newly created account appeared to invest $30,000 Friday in Maduro's exit. After Maduro went into custody Saturday morning, that same investor netted $436,759.61.”
Someone made $400K by predicting Maduro's capture. Here's what happened
The winnings come as the rules governing prediction markets are still evolving.

I used to think the bipartisanship line was exclusively because guys like this had a conception of politics from the 80s; now I believe it's at least in part an alibi for doing nothing. Schumer thinks he has to do nothing to avoid endangering a Dem sweep in the midterms; it's probably the opposite.
Asked about the possibility of impeachment, Schumer says "we hope that we can have support from our Republican colleagues to put a brake on this long before it gets that far"
