Two plants of ponds/damp ground in the Lamiaceae or #DeadNettlefamily for #WildflowerHour this week - Water Mint and Marsh Woundwort. Both of these spread by creeping stems as well as by seed.
A photo of lots of green mint leaves and two clusters of the very pale lilac colour flowers of Water Mint (ignore the variegated Glyceria leaves which have appeared with no explanation in my Water Mint Bucket!) Close up of a rather wobbly flower head of Marsh Woundwort, a plant with tall stems, variable thin pointed leaves with a little serration, and a pinkish (lilac?) colour flower with white patterns on it. In one of the spent flower heads you can see the seed forming.
