While the frost is thick and the ground is solid, our work doesn't stop!
We were out early in Fulbourn Primary School today, prepping for our rain garden project.
You might wonder: Why bother to dig when it’s icy?

This afternoon I stopped off at @cubotanicgarden.bsky.social for a cup of tea. Contemplated another @bsbibotany.bsky.social #NewYearPlantHunt but could only find these four that might qualify 🤔😉:
Daisy & Red Dead-nettle,
Winter Heliotrope & Red Nightshade.

This morning 'earth stood hard as iron' but I still made a @bsbibotany.bsky.social #NewYearPlantHunt between two old favourites: Butcher's Broom in wild part of local park and Stinking Hellebore in Lime Kiln Close reserve, plus 15 others in between. 🍒🏘️ Cherry Hinton #Cambridge #WildFlowerHour

The @bsbibotany.bsky.social #NewYearPlantHunt I joined in #BuryStEdmunds #Suffolk stuck to its brief of 'Churchyard and Crankles' so missed this Christmas Cherry, Solanum pseudocapsicum, a #PavementPlant, still flowering in a nearby street. #WildflowerHour

Tried to escape the bitter wind in Dover town for #NewYearPlantHunt #3, but failed 🥶. Frost made it difficult to find flowers, but we managed 37 species.
Even the Soldiers were sheltering from the wind.
