With Valentines coming up, what better gift than a copy of #TheSpyWhoLoved?
Krystyna Skarbek aka Christine Granville loved adventure & adrenaline, she loved men - she had 2 husbands & many lovers, but most of all she loved freedom…
Show them you appreciate passion, courage & action!

Sorry about the slightly squiffy photo, but I was so pleased to see this big piece on my book about the colourful, sometimes scandalous, history of the remarkable The Gibson Library, Saffron Walden !

Remembering the millions murdered not only at camps, but also in mass shootings, while enslaved labourers or on death marches.
I usually write about individuals who served, resisted, or had the chance & courage to be heroes. Today I am thinking of all those whose names are unknown or unconsidered.

THANK YOU to everyone who’s borrowed my books from libraries…
Authors get a tiny bit for each borrow, & it all helps! (Mine’s just arrived from last year)
Here’s me about to give a talk at Clapham library…

The incomparable #BessieColeman, born #otd in 1926… wld have been 100 today!
In 1921 Bessie became the first Black person to earn an international pilots license - in France, because although she was American, of African & Native American heritage, US flight schls wld not admit women or black pple 🧵

Finally got around to reading Agent Zo by @claremulley.bsky.social it’s as good as I hoped it would be. Not just the story of an incredible person but an insight in to just her horrific things were in Poland during WWII. Any of my fellow history nerds here, you want to read this.
