One alternative is to go by the governing body of the sport in question, so UK Olympics you might say Jason Kenny (most Olympic golds, cycling) or Mo Farah (just because), versus soccer maybe George Best for Northern Ireland and Kenny Dalgliesh for Scotland

The world owes the (legitimately problematic in her own right) Alice Dalgliesh a debt for suppressing Heinlein's worst excesses in the Scribner juvies. Not that she could entirely prevent the odd husband-high or incestuous marriage.

I'm in snowless Seattle in front of a fireplace with my cat working my way through P.D. James' Adam Dalgliesh books.

(Yesterday I saw NO OTHER CHOICE and am happy my man Westlake is still in the zeitgeist)

Indeed. You may have noticed I'm a huge P.D. James fans, but I really don't like the the new round of adaptations of her Adam Dalgliesh novels except for Bertie Carvel's lead performance - because he's not afraid to lead with the poet-detective's rather chilly reserve with is meant to be offputting.

Loved George Gently. Thought Martin Shaw was excellent. Did you ever watch the modern remake of the Adam Dalgliesh stories that aired on 5? They were very good; I’d never watched the Roy Marsden ones but my mum was a fan and thought they compared well.

I had no idea that Martin Shaw played Inspector Dalgliesh in a version of PD James’ Death in Holy Orders in 2003. I mostly notice how little things—fashions, cars, etc. have changed in 23 years. Just a glimpse of a computer screen showing a Windows XP or 2000 desktop.

Special thanks to Graeme Dalgliesh who organised this positive collaborative approach alongside VICSO - Stuart Wright (pictured here with mentor, Andy Gray)

This the one that caught Kenny Dalgliesh speeding

I've been binging Dalgliesh on Acorn. These episodes are based on the well known books by PD James.Bertie Carvel as Dalgliesh is equivalent to David Suchet as Poirot. They were both born to play the respective investigators.I have fallen completely under the spell of this amazing actor. I ❤️ BBC.

HârnWorld es un entorno de juego que tiene alma de Mythras, pero que me grita Pendragon con el peso de sus casi 300 páginas.

A dear friend adores PDJames's Adam Dalgliesh, and I've tried, but not yet succeeded in loving those books. Not giving up, but there are other things that are next on my lists.

More of Donna Leon's Inspector Brunetti in Venice, for example.

So true. The Brookner comparison was precisely what lead me to the Dalgliesh books. And now that I’ve read 6 of them I really regret not having done it chronologically because the subplot also counts.

And I adored finishing off the Inspector Dalgliesh books by P. D. James: they’re the perfect exploration of the strange, cold undertones of the institutions of our country and the isolation and vulnerability that they cause.

Os métodos inteligentes e minuciosos de investigação de Adam Dalgliesh, o charmoso inspetor da Scotland Yard que protagoniza uma série de romances da autora, serão postos à prova por intrigas que envolvem algumas mortes misteriosas em

My review of THE MISTLETOE MURDER AND OTHER STORIES by P.D. James is on IG/SG. This collection of 4 short stories features Adam Dalgliesh in 2 of them. One of the others features a voyeur who may be a witness to a murder but is reluctant to come forward. This ending surprised me the most.

This was a new one to me and is a collection of four short stories set around the holiday season. As expected, there's always a twist! And two of the stories feature Adam Dalgliesh at various stages in his career. #catchatbookclub
