I still recall the C+VG competition where the prize was a PC Engine, and they took a pic of it next to a packet of Skips to illustrate the size. I also remember the email from the retro dealer in the early 90s that wanted £250 for one.

C&VG #206, Jan '99 - Review of 'Rougue Trip' for the PlayStation.
The seams of the grueling dev cycle are visible, of course- but i don't care. I spent an entire day sobbing while playing the final chapter. Had to play the ending twice b/c i couldn't see the screen the first time. Stories are about emotional impact & VG definitely had that for me.

Looking at a few budget titles this afternoon, and they don’t get any better than Kane on the #Commodore64 #C64 for value for money.
C&VG gave it 10/10, but ZZAP!64 weren’t overly impressed and gave it a low 63%.
