#Bugonia’s
Bugonia's cinematography is miles above Save The Green Planet's low budget ass, but my goodness this really lacks the focus of the latter

I liked Jesse’s performance but that whole movie felt flat for me. I don’t see that much campaign from the Bugonia’s camp for this award season.

It's not my favorite Yorgos but I'm not gonna say it sucked. Ill give it a rewatch in a few months. Kinds of Kindness has a single scene that basically undercuts all of Bugonia's yorgosness and I can't help but compare them directly because of it.

SAG tends to be very Brit-American centric, but yeah that omission did surprise me tbh. The sudden love for Bugonia's lead actors were also a surprise, I preferred Emma Stone's role over Jesse Plemons. I didn't think it was comedy though.

Just finished Bugonia and Emma Stone sure got the market on weird ass movies cornered. Bugonia’s still not my favorite film of 2025 but it kept me engaged and guessing and it was not too long in the tooth at 1hr58minutes

I see both endings as essentially presenting the distorted worldview as if it were actual. For a number of reasons, I find Bugonia’s more ambiguous attempt to be the successful attempt at essaying that idea. But yes, art is neat.

I was annoyed by how telegraphed Bugonia’s twist was: age-defying girl boss ceo => Tár reveal denouement 🙄

Bugonia’s score is nuts.

Finally watched OBAA and it was a blast as advertised. I do not care if its politics were coherent or not. Don't care if Bugonia's were either. I no longer care about that kind of thing. Until I do at some point out of nowhere again. Maybe five minutes from now. That's called watching da movies.

#Bugonia’s casting struck me the most: Jesse Plemmons (best actor shoe in) a raging Zionist irl plays someone trying 2 save humanity. And irl science denier, friend of RFK Jr & antivaxxer, Alicia Silverstone plays his mom. Now that’s comedic. Excellent prod design, hair & makeup. Emma 💯 nom’d. 7.5/10

?? narratives don't work any one way? Bugonia's pretty careful to alienate you from the main characters, by making them both pretty horrible, by setting them against each other, and by revealing that you don't actually know them in the final part of the film.

bugonia’s misanthropy really pissed me off. really uncreative and limp conclusion to draw

I loved bugonia's ending. Idk what people are mad about lol

BEST NEEDLEDROP: WHERE HAVE ALL THE FLOWERS GONE? (BUGONIA)

There were many great needledrops this year, but Bugonia's use of "Where Have All the Flowers Gone?" compliments the final scene of the film perfectly. It all ends with something magnificent.

Bugonia's absolutely stellar. It's Yorgos directing a non-Yorgos script, which I think gave him room to do some exciting shit.

Bugonia's got me squirming before the opening title card

Love when a remake has something interesting and new to say with it's source material!
STGP feels much more surrealist and strange throughout whereas Bugonia's played for high drama but not as much comedy. It's a very different take and I dig it.
I think on the whole I prefer STGP but it's close.

I know people are reacting to Bugonia and One Battle After Another being here but tbf I do find black comedy to be one of the genres in Bugonia's genre mix, and One Battle After Another was honestly one of the funniest movies I've seen this year that wasn't a straight up comedy so I kinda get it. 😂

hello friends, i wrote a new essay about conspiracy narratives in film this year, growing up in the 90s surrounded by right wing conspiracy rhetoric in pop culture, and the analysis of bugonia's ending you should have expected from me: www.patreon.com/posts/only-t...

Bugonia's casting is amazing, and you made me realize how it's so much better by how grimy and offbeat everybody looks. Even someone as attractive as Emma Stone. Just makes the film feel more real and alive, despite the absurd premise. Kudos to the cinematography and makeup team I suppose

Me during Bugonia’s first hour: where is this going?

Me during Bugonia’s second hour: I have no idea where we’re going and I am LOCKED IN

"Bugonia’s ending is awful. It’s undoubtably going to be divisive on general release, but to me I simply cannot stand it"

Bugonia could have been the director's best but falls at the final hurdle says Jacob Holmes. Check his full review:

Two conspiracy theory barn pots kidnap a powerful CEO and chain her in their basement. Their goal? To expose her for being an Alien who wants to take over and destroy the world.

The revelation that Fuller was actually an alien didn't surprise me: if anything, that's really the only twist they could have. It's what happens afterwards: deciding humanity was a failure, and choosing to genocide everyone.

My top four of the year:

Weapons
Sorry, Baby
It Was Just An Accident
Bugonia

I put Hamnet in Bugonia’s spot for about a minute, and then deleted that version.

The other five of my 10? One Battle After Another, If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, Sinners, Sentimental Value, and The Ugly Stepsister.
