Btw, it is insane how much more contact is allowed by refs in the Big Ten compared to other leagues. Like, if Stirtz played with the SEC refs, he would get 15 FTAs a game

If these informal reports are true it would mean an absurd betrayal of future generations and of course entail large scale violations of the EU’s and its Member State’s international obligations under the Paris Agreement, several FTAs and customary international law. www.politico.eu/article/eu-c...
The week the EU’s climate foundations started to shake
An assault on Europe’s most important climate law, the Emissions Trading System, took the fight against green rules to a whole new level.

So much rubbish on the multi-channels. Part of the problem is the streaming services owning rights to many old series, so the FTAs can't show them again unless they pay for the rights again. There should be a statute of limitations, if a show's already been on FTA then it can't be hoarded.

More recently, rules of origin have entered into the mix. EU has FTAs with most CPTPP members, the idea is to make those more interoperable and reduce complexity. If you're a Dutch firm using Japanese parts made with Mexican and Vietnamese inputs, this will make your life a lot easier.

This paper decomposing the gains from trade finds that while global welfare gains from "gravity" factors (like proximity and language) grew from 1% in the 1950s to 5% by 2015, Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) have become the dominant driver of these gains since the 1990s. doi.org/10.1080/10168737.20...

India’s Trade Deals Are Becoming a Signal, Not Just a Strategy
PM Modi’s remarks on FTAs point to how trade agreements now reflect confidence in India’s economic direction Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that India’s recent free trade agreements reflect growing global confidence in the country. The comment comes as India expands its network of FTAs with major economies, reversing years of caution around trade liberalisation. This matters now because India’s trade posture was long seen as defensive.

FTAs show increased global confidence in India: PM Modi | India News – The Times of India
NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday rejected the criticism over the recent free trade agreements, asserting that few countries were willing to sign FTAs during the UPA dispensation when India was marred by scams and counted among ‘Fragile Five’ economies, while it is now capable of competing with the world.Addressing the ET NOW Global Business Summit, the PM said UPA could conclude FTAs with only four countries, while his govt has signed agreements covering 38 countries.“Who would have confidence in India when policy paralysis and scams marked its governance,” he said in a swipe at the UPA govt.

Europe does indeed have a competitiveness problem, but Dr #Merzoni's prescription to dismantle EU law will make the patient even worse, argue three leading think tanks.

Simplification will not restart growth, and FTAs alone save Europe from the collapse of the Western world order.
Europe is chasing the wrong fix for its growth crisis
The continent’s old growth model no longer works in today’s world. And EU leaders need a plan that matches the scale of this shift.
