It's that time of year again for the ol' awards eligibility post. I promise to make it short. (-:

I had one new work this year, my novella "The Chronolithographer's Assistant" in the July/August issue of Asimov's.

With any luck, we can replace the CEOs entirely, and just let the stupid computers make terrible decisions that ruin the world. There's no reason humans should be getting paid for that.
A study by Dayforce shows 87% of executives use AI for work, compared to 57% of managers and just 27% of employees.

I think this explains the massive disconnect we see in how CEOs talk about AI versus everyone else. It also raises the question of how useful it truly is for frontline work?

This ep we dive into disks and, gasp, revisit intro physics concepts. Wait don't leave! Cole explores a misbehaving protoplanetary disk while Cormac shows how radiation can hinder the birth of planets. We then visit beefier disks around galaxies and black holes. 🔭

Grid bottlenecks aren’t a failure of the energy transition — they’re proof it’s working.

Renewables got cheap fast, and now the grid has to catch up. Time to build the wires for the clean energy system we already have.

Over the past two centuries, especially since the 1950s, a dramatic shift has been unfolding in how we understand humanity's place in the universe. This article explains. (4,500 words)
