I think more than anything else AI feels like a miracle to people with questionable literacy because it can read and write for you, and a lot of us who are highly literate underestimate how many of our society's leaders, esp in business, struggle with literacy.
It's pretty much mandatory at work that I appear to be using it, so I've doe a few functional things with it, and it's a moderate time-saver if used right. But nowhere near worth it's stock value, energy cost.

Then I realize there's a lot of people who simply can't write coherent paragraphs.

"you have not played the game unless you've played the game" is one of my more annoying but unshakable opinions
the whole "don't play the game, just watch a video on youtube that will explain its story to you" is so disheartening because the issue of accessibility is genuinely really important but it's always just people who want to be spoon-fed nicely quantifiable information

I'd enjoy AC6 DLC but like this person says it's important to remember that it is actually a single-player mission-based game with a linear story featuring a beginning, middle, and end.
what would the DLC be? none of the endings serve an epilogue, and there's no space for a prologue.
Ok but like
AC6 doesn't *need* new fancy content updates, it's a well paced singleplayer action game that from what I've seen of it isn't hurting for content, it's a complete package. Nightreign I finished and actuallywanted more bosses/stuff to do because it's more open ended and I enjoyed it

is the original Mobile Suit Gundam still considered a good watch or is it dated to the point of being "the thing you suffer through to get to the good stuff?"
I'm on Ep 15 and it's not BAD but it's really dragging compared to 00

for the record I had this in reverse.
nesC will throw a cascading syntax error if you declare a variable anywhere except the top of its scope, i.e. each function needs to BEGIN with all the variable declarations. wish the error message said so.
two hours into a series of syntax errors which only happen if I place *any code whatsoever* after an if statement within a function, regardless of the content of the if statement.
if there's an if statement and it's not the final line of the function, I have an error and can't compile.
fuck you TinyOS you make me miserable and I do not like you not even one bit

I wish long-range in Armored Core VI had more viable options than just missiles.
I know ballistics become very dodgeable at long ranges, but they'd still be useful at that range if it wasn't for ricochet.
I just feel like a mech-scale railgun should still be powerful out past 200 meters.

the Conductor's Gauntlet is genuinely harder than any of the bosses up to that point in Silksong but also shit is a banger I've never felt like enemies are ENDLESS like that before

to expand on this, why are we pretending that it's just some law of nature that games get more expensive to produce? why do we never call into question the inefficiency and predatory behavior of these companies?
why are corporations' woes always the working class's responsibility?
this is silly. the only games that are more expensive than 20 years ago are bloated unoptimized messes anyway. the market for games has ballooned massively, and those extra sales are pure profit.
there is a massive market of idiots who will pay $70-90 for terrible games, that should be good enough.
AAA video games should cost $100 on launch. this would still be extremely cheap for the amount of time and enjoyment you get out of them! But an audience of whiny babies has kept them literally at the same price for *two decades* despite both general inflation *and* sector-specific costs rising

How's this:

You wanna sell me a game for $100?

Give me a *finished game.* With no microtransactions. No paid DLC. No crunch. No bullshit.

do people have strong opinions on Cyberpunk 2020 vs Cyberpunk RED? trying to find a TTRPG that's cybernetics-heavy and mechanically crunchy and RED seems like the obvious right call as the newest release but I've heard people say it dumbed a lot down from 2020

this is the opposite of a canary in a coal mine.
if Harvard cannot support its PhD programs in the US, nobody can.
we are about to see a mass exodus of the most intelligent and hardworking people in the country taking positions overseas, because we threw away a good thing for no reason.
Wow. Harvard nuking its PhD programs

- Arts & Humanities reduced by about 60%
- Social Sciences by 50–70%
- History by 60%
- Biology by 75%
- The German department will lose all PhD seats
- Sociology from six PhD students to zero
