The Home Secretary explaining that the rise in racist violence is, actually, the natural response to higher levels of immigration is a state of affairs that can't exist without the government having largely decided that racist violence is, if not legitimate, at least understandable.

When you’re willing to say whatever’s convenient at any given moment, regardless of whether it’s true, you’re inevitably going to end up looking like a dishonest, or at the very least a hypocrite.

Anti-imm right will share the Guardian article and decide Labour have a woke open borders policy; progressive left will share the Sun article and conclude Labour are thugs snatching jewelry from the desperate. Instead of persuading both sides the risk is you anger both and persuade no one.

Main downside of EU5 right here. Had no idea this event was coming (no mission tree), no permanent claims just an expiring CB. Have no idea how to trigger future historical events.

The takeaway IMO is aggro centrism is an astonishing historic disaster. Not only does it not work - it delivers very little for the public, doesn’t address core problems of the era and disillusions the public with democracy itself - but it actively aids the far right and prepares the way for fascism

"cartel like behaviour"
'Don't tell me you don't want to be out on strike - because that is exactly where you are. Own it.'

As resident doctors walk out again, Wes Streeting calls out the 'reprehensible and cartel-like behaviour' of their union.

Disappointed also that taxes aren't going up
I am also fundamentally unconvinced it was a promise which defined an election for the public, given a) there were far greater factors that defined the election and b) most Labour voters themselves already expected the promise would be broken.

Me anytime someone moans about being taxed too much
Dunno mate, if you're earning that much I feel like you're probably enjoying life a lot more for getting up in the morning than someone who isn't paying that rate of tax.

My PM Streeting prediction is there may be a leveling out or slight bump for them in the polls before it deteriorates again. He's a better communicator than Starmer (low bar) but there really isn't anything there

How is he so bad and cringe
NEW: Wes Streeting says it’s “categorically untrue” that he’s plotting a coup against Keir Starmer.

“Whoever has been briefing this has been watching too much celebrity traitors.

“The briefing about me is the most unjustified attack against the faithful since Joe Marler was banished in the final.”
