TFW you drop a joke in a story where the (one word) punchline is ~2000 words after the (one word) setup and you just hope ONE person out there picks up on it because you know it's an absolute killer. #amwriting

NPR reported this morning that, based on their review of the #Epstein emails released yesterday, Trump’s name appeared more than 1,000 times in the document—

"I have met some very bad people, none as bad as #Trump. Not one decent cell in his body." - Jeffrey Epstein

OMFG the story fodder here...
TIL that a giant TERRIFYING ELEPHANT BUILDING used to dominate the Coney Island landscape in the late 1800s. It started as a hotel, very quickly became a brothel, and eventually burned down under mysterious circumstances. The dude who built it thought animal bldgs were the future of architecture.

It's not uncommon to see weird takes on the internet but sometimes you see something that makes you realize in the flash of an instant that this person needs to be institutionalized immediately

Can’t be entirely coincidence that they got rid of the coin featuring the guy who a) ended slavery, b) defeated the confederacy, and c) was known as honest.

So if I’m pretty sure I broke a toe (in what might be the stupidest way I’ve ever hurt myself, which is a high bar indeed) is it worth going to the doc or should I just duct-tape it to its neighbor toe and tough it out?

I intensely dislike that we’re getting rid of pennies. If I have to pay a whole nickel for someone’s thoughts now, they damn well better be having better thoughts.

A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.

Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."

Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.

if you are food insecure for both the humans and pets in your household there is a tool called Pet Help Finder that can help locate pet food banks nearby and other free or reduced price assistance and supplies for pets.
no one, ABSOLUTELY NO ONE, should have to give up their pet bc of this.

I talk to the press professionally, I'm really, really, really good at it.

So please, please believe me when say you cannot turn this interview request into anything good, it will do only harm. Harm to you, harm to your child, harm to other children.
heads up to anyone who holds trans kids near: amy harmon from the nyt is searching for and having a hard time finding people to interview to find out exactly what trans kids are doing when their care is limited or cut off, and for purposes of community safety, please shut the fuck up around her.
