The latest from @maxboot.bsky.social:
Normally when presidents embark on a regime-change strategy, they give a major policy address and seek support from both Congress and the UN. Trump hasn’t done any of that — he’s simply entangling the U.S. with Venezuela for reasons that he won’t fully explain. wapo.st/4iZ7RuW
Opinion | Seizing Venezuelan oil tankers could backfire on Trump
More legally defensible than blowing up boats, but that doesn’t make it a good idea or policy.

The conclusions offered here by Max Boot are obvious. There's much more—as a DEA retiree told me the other day, Trump has radically diminished drug interdiction efforts on the US-Mexico border, and that reveals his real attitude.
It’s hard to believe Trump is motivated by a desire to promote democracy, given how much he is doing to undermine democracy at home, or by a desire to fight the war on drugs, given that he just pardoned the former president of Honduras who had been imprisoned on drug-dealing charges. wapo.st/4iZ7RuW

Absolutely vile.

We've had presidents before who were terrible people, but never one who was so shamelessly, publicly terrible. This behavior should not be excused, much less celebrated.

Cruelty and incompetence, and an unlawful detention. A kidnapping. ICE gets to do this with zero accountability.
