Gavin has shown himself unfit to be President. This is why we should let our current President take a third term, despite his age. Who cares what the constitution says.

I always have complex feelings about Canada Day, and this year, they're extra complicated. I hope a lot of things for this country. I hope we build mature understandings of sovereignty and respect for the land and each other. Death to imperialism. Long live red and white cupcakes if that's your jam.

We were hoping that this letter to @bsky.app could first be shared by a Gazan, but we were too worried that doing so would get their account deleted so we are sharing first.

You can sign on to the letter about the unfair treatment of Gazans on Bluesky here:

A Thread Of My Thoughts On The Canadian Election That Absolutely No One Asked For

1. I lived in the UK for 9 years, finally leaving during the insane heights of the Liz Truss experience. I felt relived to escape a country that felt like it was collapsing around me. 🧵

People in Canada voting for the Liberal or Conservative parties, take note.
You cannot be against the genocide Israel is committing in Gaza and simultaneously support a pro-Israel politician, because then your anti-genocide stance is just performative.

Studies show a massive return of fish and marine megafauna to sites with these underwater tidal turbines. How?

Simple: overfishing is prevented.

If they proved suitable for Irish locations, it would be *such* a win-win, generating clean electricity AND providing a haven for marine ecosystems.

1. One of capitalism’s greatest successes is to shut down our imaginations. With the help of its favoured tools - neoliberalism and fascism - it persuades us that “there is no alternative”. Our first task is to re-ignite our moral imaginations and name our alternatives. 🧵

being an indie bookseller in the helltimes has felt both very stable and very stabilizing, and part of me wishes everyone could be on my side of the counter for a little while, because I think it would help some of you be a little less cynical and doomy right now. so here is my VERY anecdotal data:

Alright team, listen up!

I’m on a mission, to get myself over to the Rugby World Cup and I need your help. I’m on the look out for work, both at the tournament and in the lead up to help finance the trip.

Cheers for the shares and support. Can’t wait to see you all at the Rugby Word Cup!

This Cybertruck did not crash. It made a heartfelt and perhaps ill-advised gesture that, in the moment, might have been misinterpreted as a crash, but we should not rush to judgement.

Every time someone mentions using an LLM they should feel compelled to explain why whatever they did with it was worth the ecological impact

People should be made to feel uncool, frankly
