as an NHS resident (though not for much longer), this blog really resonates
This was such a great "Wicked Problems" session at #ICRE2025 yesterday.

This morning, I read this article from the Psychological Safety newsletter that resonated with the discussion about individual-level solutions for systems-level problems - worth a read!

looked so rough after my night shift that when leaving hospital this morning, a very lovely volunteer asked me if I needed assistance 😅

fuck off fuck off fuck off fuck OFF with this bullshit
Krishnan Guru Murthy: "Isn't it a bit insulting to say to an Indian doctor who is working 60-70 hours a week that in order to get settled status he's got to volunteer?"

Rachel Reeves, "We want people to contribute if they come to our country." #Labour
Shabana Mahmood: Farage has “blown a very loud dog whistle to every racist in the country.”

Reform UK plan to scrap settled status is cruel, and needs to be called out.

Love this article - HFNO needs judicious use especially in oncology settings (and imo probably shouldn’t be available in Level 1 settings at all)

obviously this is mental in and of itself but man alive it really does suck extra hard when you think about all the ACTUAL CRIMES the police just isn't investigating, because of "lack of resources"
Just received news that 27 people have been arrested in Parliament Square under the Terrorism Act 2000 for holding signs saying "I oppose genocide. I support Palestine Action".
This is real police state behaviour.

got a bag nicked two years ago in a pub and 1) the pub offered to give the police CCTV 2) it took me a while to block my Monzo so I had a list of places the thief had spent my money in, and they also presumably have CCTV, but the police refused to investigate

some guys with placards though? on it!

So horrified at how people treat each other. Became unwell and collapsed on my way home today. An uber driver kindly looked after me until I was picked up. He called next customer while I was in the car to apologise, explain and cancel the journey. She verbally abused him until she hung up. Awful

One nurse told The Sunday Times: "We had an elderly patient who was end-of-life & because we didn’t have space, she was moved onto the corridor & she passed away there. I think that was one of the saddest moments. It’s so inhumane, it’s awful."

She is thinking about quitting.
