Here is Pete Hegseth, on several occasions in 2016, lauding the military "ethos" that means they will refuse to follow unlawful orders - which he reckons is treason, now that they are his orders - because "there have to be consequences for abject war crimes".

Deserves to go viral.

This story more than any other disgusts me.

Yinka was a little 9 year old boy

Farage was a swaggering bully aged 17

We all knew those bullies at school and in this case teenager Farage was a racist bully too
Yinka Bankole was 12 when Farage spotted him in the playground:

“He towered over me. ‘Where are you from?’ he asked. Within seconds of offering my rather confused and sputtering answers, he had a clear response: ‘That’s the way back to Africa,’.”

Former Dulwich pupil says Farage told him: ‘That’s the way back to Africa’
Exclusive: Yinka Bankole says he felt compelled to speak out after Reform leader’s attempts to ‘dismiss’ hurt of alleged targets

Being a British parent is so weird bc you're actually worried about paying the sky high rent/mortgage & getting GP appointments but the entire press keeps telling you you're worried there's a trans person or immigrant nearby & the vat on Eton means there'll only be two skiing holidays this year

Good to know that as an architect with a masters degree working in a practice that specialises social housing I’m considered a ‘taker’ because I don’t earn above £50k… but It’s ok, we don’t have a housing crisis or anything. Why do I bother paying so much £££ in visa fees to be treated like this.

All of this stuff is in the Crick biography and has been reported much longer than that. Farage's career should never have progressed out of the gutter

Hi @sturdyalex.bsky.social I just listened to the latest (excellent) Quiet Riot podcast and heard you pleading with the government to put down the Ming Vase. I wondered if you had seen this (also excellent) blog post?

1/ I have written a paper/ 4-part blog series called ‘Putting Down the Vase’. It is about populism, trust, and how Labour can stop Reform. The central argument is that, in a climate of low trust, risk-aversion at the centre must be overcome.

"And do you know why?"

"Pushed through by Boris Johnson and championed by Nigel Farage"

Including his latest today.

Why, therefore, is Zia Yusuf on ##bbcqt tonight?

Breaking: it turns out that I’ve been pronouncing “synecdoche” wrong for most of my adult life, or at least I would have done had I ever *said* it rather than merely thinking it – although to be honest I’ve rarely thought it either. Anyway, I would have got away with it but I thought I’d come clean
