Why didn’t some of the Epstein survivors speak out earlier? “I thought someone was going to kill me,” one explained.

As another asked, “Why did the government work so hard to protect Jeffrey Epstein and not victims like me?”

Stupidity, warned Carlo Cipolla, wields more power than any organized gang or industrial military complex and seems to be a constant force in history.

In other words, the non-stupid should never underestimate the role of stupidity in world events, writes Andrew Nikiforuk for the Weekender.

By a 6-3 vote, SCOTUS lets Trump fire the Dem members of the Consumer Product Safety Commission, who are protected against removal by statute.

Dissenting, Kagan says the majority is undertaking a “permanent transfer of authority” from Congress to the president.

But the two things he wouldn't do were 1) knowingly lie to a judge and 2) defy a court order. Those are incredibly low bars to get over...pretty much the definition of what your most basic obligations as a lawyer are...and for abiding by those obligations he was fired by Trump's DOJ.

I was just saying to my partner today: one of the many, many things I do not understand about extremely wealthy people is why they don’t do more of this. Like, go to a Staples in August and tell them you’re paying for every family’s school supplies that day. Why would you not do that all the time?

Competent prosecutors do not usually say things like “We have tens of thousands of files we’ve never shown anyone,” because it tends to suggest that you didn’t disclose evidence to defendants.
The Associated Press spoke with lawyers and law enforcement officials in criminal cases of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell who said they hadn’t seen and didn’t know of a trove of recordings like what Attorney General Pam Bondi described.
Mystery surrounds the Jeffrey Epstein files after Bondi claims 'tens of thousands' of videos
Attorney General Pam Bondi’s comments about evidence the Justice Department is reviewing from its Jeffrey Epstein sex trafficking investigation have fueled anticipation about the expected release of more files related to the New York financier.

The Mayor has imposed a curfew on DTLA tonight.

For those who whom might not understand the geography of this city, or the scope of this “violence”…

The curfew boundary is *literally* across the street from me…

…and I haven’t seen a single ANYTHING.

It’s too early to declare a constitutional crisis, and debating the label we attach to any new event can distract us from focusing on the event itself. But each day brings us fresh evidence of a deeply troubling trend: America is no longer a stable country, and it is growing less stable by the day.

Everything that’s happened over the past six months has been a response to an imaginary crisis. There is no immigrant invasion. No trade crisis. No scientific or governance crisis. Just people completely high off their own supply trying to fundamentally reorder society. None of this had to happen.

Law enforcement officers should never cover their faces when making arrests or conceal their identities (unless they are working undercover). They work for us. We have a right to know who they are. These face coverings are frightening & unAmerican, as though they're ashamed of what they're doing.
