One of the biggest drivers of high housing costs is that a small, highly motivated group of incumbent homeowners block new housing in their neighborhoods and almost no one is organized to push back.

Young people bear the brunt of that imbalance.

Be a housing fan.

Soon small businesses won’t have to wait for Small Business Saturday to get attention from their Mayor.

Some changes that they can look forward to:

One of the most important ways to tackle NYC's housing supply crisis is by voting yes on Props 2-5 on the back of our ballots in November. Join us @yesonaffhousing.bsky.social to get these passed!

We all know housing is too expensive in NYC, and it’s getting more expensive by the day. It’s time to take action. As a New Yorker who follows housing issues closely and works on housing issues in my community, I believe proposals 2 – 5 will help.

I’m voting YES!

Because this project will be fully grade separated, it should be built as automated light metro (e.g., Toulouse Metro, Milan M5, Honolulu Skytrain). This can enable:
—More reliable & often faster service
—More frequent service
—Shorter platforms (& thus cheaper-to-build stations)
NY Gov Hochul announced today that the Interborough Express—a circumferential light rail line connecting Brooklyn & Queens—will enter the engineering & design phase.

NY state has appropriated ~half of the cost of the project so far. One of the—or the—most important light rail projects in the US.

In many ways it's fitting that the showdown between monarchy and democracy ends up being over NYC congestion pricing.

Cities are where the power of kings were first challenged, and few things are more fundamental to government than control of public space.

Housing can and should be abundant! Making it happen requires realistic plans to build more homes. I am proud of the community of NYC advocates who have raised the profile of this issue, and of politicians like @chiosse.bsky.social and @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social who are taking it seriously.

There’s a huge double standard when it comes to funding public transit vs funding highways. It plays out in various ways in how society looks at the costs of building & operating transit vs highways. The result is massive under-investment in transit. 🧵:

Yes on Prop 1, no on Prop 2-6
There’s an intense battle in NY over Proposal 1, which would enshrine abortion rights in our state constitution.

And now a bunch of Trump donors have poured $8M last minute into the NO campaign.

It’s critical that you and everyone you know in NY turn over your ballot and vote YES on Prop 1.
