Writer of primarily feature screenplays (specialties: Horror and Family. I know, right?). Fan of films, TV, books, Halloween Season, the Miami Dolphins, '80s New Wave/Synthpop, and food.
One movie was recently added and is simultaneously leaving soon. Another illustration of why physical media is vital.

And WHY did they put this level so early in the game?? If only we could have been able to enjoy more levels before either losing here or barely making it and then losing shortly after since all the Turtles' energy bars were so badly depleted. Sigh.
Scenes from a marriage:

Me: Oh you think this is funny?

Jess: My 50yr old husband is yelling about a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game he couldn’t beat in the 80s. Yeah, it’s pretty fucking funny.

Me: I’m not yelling. But the bomb level is no laughing matter & it’s time we as a culture admit it!

So real. The threat of forced audience participation is awful even if nothing happens other than the presenter giving a "one in three people will..." type of stat and stopping there. Still a moment of anxiety. If I were to ever give a major presentation, I would never do this. Introvert solidarity.

For 27 years I thought a lyric went "The dream I never knew / Begins to fade from view," which I liked. Now I'm finding out the first part's apparently "The tree-lined avenue" and boy howdy does that ever change the meaning. Maybe I was Going Through It back then. I kinda like mine better, sorry.

I know "Somehow, Palpatine returned" gets flak for absurdly explaining a villain's inexplicable return, but we need to also give it up for Knight Rider when Hasselhoff says "I know" after they encounter KARR, and KITT says, "We destroyed KARR two years ago. I saw him explode. You saw him explode."

Finally getting around to season 2 of Severance, and does anyone else get Harry Dean Stanton vibes from Adam Scott in this? I never saw that before, even in Severance season 1, but I can see it here. Which is a good thing! They're both fine actors.

I love the part where two of the otters get pissed at each other for a second, then go right back to their normal squeaking.
Happy little friends

Falling asleep in your recliner when you don't want to: Easiest thing that's ever existed in history.
Falling asleep in your recliner when you're actually trying to: The universe has taken your "trying to" and transformed it into restlessness to ensure you have a jagged, discombobulated "sleep."

Or sometimes wanting the DJ to talk *just enough* that they would say the name of the band if you didn't know who it was, because pre-Google, Shazam, SoundHound, etc., the DJ was our only hope of identifying the artist!
Waiting by the radio to listen for your new favorite song to hit record on an audio cassette so you could have a copy, praying the DJ would shut the fuck up so you didn't have to hear their bullshit for the next six months of your life
What’s a real thing from your childhood that kids these days would find completely foreign?

Like, how we used to be able to walk right up to the gate to meet our family coming off a flight.

Or how we had to pick a spot to meet at the theater BEFORE we went.

How long has "vers" been out there as a new way to say "versus?" I've noticed it a lot recently in videos, and I don't know if I'm picking up on it more often from being aware or if it's been going on for a while and I just hadn't noticed until now.

Let's just officially make it all right to say "alright" and be done with that.

I was leaving a local building that had a restaurant on one floor and a comedy club on another. I saw someone coming toward the door behind me so I held it for him and he said, "Thanks, man." And we carried on separately. I recognized him and confirmed when I got home: stand-up comic Josh Blue.
Right folks. Feeling rather down at the moment so bringing back an oldie

Midnight Mass and Haunting of Hill House. Midnight Mass is one of the best things I've ever seen, regardless of genre or medium. I'm always a sucker for horror that pulls the heart strings, and Flanagan is a singular master of it.
Wishing a very Happy Birthday to the master of modern horror, Mike Flanagan! 🎉 What's your favorite movie or series from his spine-chilling collection?

If I were ever in charge of any cable TV network, one of my directives would be ensuring that under no circumstances would there be a commercial break right in the middle of the T-rex breakout scene in Jurassic Park.

"...Can be pitched as 'The Cabin in the Woods' meets 'Zombeavers.' ... I would go (on to) say that this film might be better than both the aforementioned films."

Similarly, the other night as I neared the end of a first draft, I had a character saying lots of on-the-nose dialogue about the movie's themes and the "lessons learned," and I cringed but didn't stop. I knew I had to keep going because I was almost done, and I know I'll change it later.
If you can't find the right word, put down the wrong one. Keeping your momentum while writing is more important than getting it right on the first pass. If you're worried about it sticking - BOLD the word & keep going. You'll notice those words right away while editing when you have time to process.
