This is how Enron did its accounting (seriously)
On one side of the ledger, we have half a trillion dollars in operating losses expected over the next 5 years.

On the other side of the ledger, we have all the money we'll hypothetically make when the hypothetical technology we imagine comes into existence mostly on its own.

So it's net positive.
HSBC forecasts that OpenAI is going to have nearly a half trillion in operating losses until 2030

Column: This Black Friday, do something different. Get outdoors

She got the joke.

Every day, Americans are bombarded with the bad news of Trump 2.0, and it is exhausting to keep track of and absorb each new outrage. That is the clear intent.

When one is caught in the crossfire, it is hard to see, let alone address, the big picture.

Watching “The Great Escaper” on PBS, with Michael Caine as an aging WW2 vet. The flashback scenes are accompanied by period swing music.

In another 50 years we’ll be watching the same sort of movie, with a soundtrack of “Let the Bodies Hit the Floor”. 🤣

Obama: "The weird videos of a US president with a crown on his head flying a fighter jet & dumping poop on American citizens - that's not even worth booing about. Because all of that is a distraction from the fact that your situation, your life has not gotten better. They do it so you won't notice"

“So it is appropriate that this story should begin w/a little circle of political diehards whose every move was out of step w/the times, who lived in a mental & social world presumed to have been in its death throes ever since Sinclair Lewis's Babbitt had driven a stake through its heart..” 1/2

Its sad that the same terms & catch phrases from the 1950s are still being used today by the conservative/right-wingers. Since the end of the Gilded Age, the slow, relentless,& quiet infiltration, & take over by conservatives/right-wingers is the worst kind of awe inspiring. Its mind breaking.

When I explain that boycotting an election over an issue has never once forced a politician to embrace that issue, I'm not "scolding people to vote." I'm explaining reality.

Feel free to sit on your ass! Just don't pretend that your lazy apathy is somehow going to advance your agenda.

Many studies attribute the success of right-wing parties to sexism.

What is sexism? How is it measured? How does it influence elections?

My systematic review of studies on sexism as a predictor of political behavior and attitudes is about to appear in @poqjournal.bsky.social!

That and the whole “dems in disarray” or “dems aren’t good for the economy” bulldookie are the greatest work of conservative strategists ever. The slow creeping take over. Right under our noses.

Really f@$king sick & tired of the “liberals control the media, academia, all institutions” narrative that is substantively false. Has not been true for quite some time and yet, thats all we hear over & over again.

Is this what it felt like in the court of Mad King George or in Versailles with Louis XIV but with technology? Its outrageous. And mind boggling that its just being treated as if its anything other than absolutely outrageous.

Prime example of white privilege in plain sight.

Black kids get called adults to justify blame, while white adults get called “kids” to excuse their hate. They’re not boys and girls, they’re grown-ass men and women, and the receipts are in writing.

The networks took the much smaller Tea Party movement so seriously they broadcast a Tea Party rebuttal to Obama’s 2011 SOTU on top of the normal GOP one.
Reminder: We spent YEARS reading thousands and thousands of articles on the Tea Party and how it was a true expression of the American people's will, and it never mounted anything nearly as big as Saturday's No Kings rallies. [1/3]
