i was having this thought exactly. fic is that urge to create just spilling out from all of us without any motivation except to see it exist for ourselves. it sometimes feels to me like the last bastion of human creativity. (i'm being dramatic, of course, but forgive me - i am a writer!)

They resisted the well-funded tech lobby & shut down proposals to upend copyright law.
Other governments should do the same!
