The Coalie Collective volunteer group were hard at work at Coalie Park, removing the barriers and sprucing up the Skate area, as it is now OPEN.

Looking great in the sunshine

A frosty cycle patrol up the walkway from the visitor centre for Johnny, on the search for future projects for our volunteers.

A few leaf sweeping moments along the way to make some minor improvements.

Where art meets geography. So pupils can mark the exact spot for their channel cross section, we’ve painted bright coloured stones. This really helps with accuracy when they use the same location for the wetted perimeter. And they’re very pretty, we think!

In #Edinburg there is a beautiful walk along the Water of Leith - it is quiet, and set down in a valley near the main part of the city. It briefly feels like you've left the city environment completely. Many of the buildings along this area are old and […]

Another shot taken during my solo photo walk around Leith last night. I had no tripod with me so I placed my camera on a railing for this one and used the self timer to activate the shutter. (50mm f/11 for 4s @ ISO 800)

Raking, brushing and litter picking complete for the morning down at Dean Village.

A significant improvement to the surface having removed thousands of soggy, compacted leaves from the walkway.

Well done team, down to Leith for more tomorrow

Plenty of soggy leaves to be cleared this morning by our volunteers at Dean Village.

Hopefully a tea break with a goddess will be extra motivation to improve the walkway

Rain, rain & more rain. The good news is that the invertebrates in the river are loving it. On our Ad Higher Biology field studies day with @BalernoSchool yesterday the biodiversity was booming. Great to see the river bouncing back after the drought.

Another wee phone video of the otter feeding on the Water of Leith earlier this month. Very gallus, not deterred at all by the crowd watching from the nearby footpath @wolct.bsky.social @scotwildlife.bsky.social #otter #Edinburgh #wildlife

What a fantastically productive session today at Bells Mill! Many hands making light work as we raked & swept the path along to the Britannia footbridge, cleared the Magdala steps, removed lots of rubbish, refreshed dead hedges & drains, and cleared fallen branches. Thanks again folks, great work!🙌

Well done to these hardcore Nordic walkers who braved torrential rain for our walk. We were rewarded with a spectacular and very full Water of Leith in spate. We spotted a very soggy Heron, taking in the views above the fast flowing water. Well worth leaving the house for.

A productive session down at the Rocheid Path with staff from Blackrock teaming up with our own volunteers this morning.

Tons of leaves cleared to expose the walkway and provide a solid surface for people to enjoy.

Great work folks

A soggy session ahead on the Rocheid path but leaves and mud don't clear themselves.

A lovely morning around Colinton in the autumnal sunshine with our amazing volunteers. As always, there were plenty of leaves matted to the walkway, making it slippy and covering the edges, making it hazardous. We cleared them off, refreshed some drainage, and foraged for litter.

For #sharemondays2025 this week here's an image of an autumn branch hanging over the river like the gentle mist behind it. Not a day for oversaturated colours, it was flat and grey even at lunchtime.

A fun morning wading in the Bavelaw Burn with fellow @wolct.bsky.social volunteers. Managed to get a hole in my waders so ended up with a wet left foot but we did get out a good deal of litter including a flag pole found by yours truly.
