This adaptation of Louise Kennedy’s masterly novel, set in 70s Belfast, sees a Catholic teacher drawn into a dangerous affair with a Protestant barrister. It really hits a nerve

Godspeed to Danny Thompson. He added so much grace, beauty and guile to so many outstanding pieces of music (you could live a pretty nourishing musical life listening solely to the records he contributed to.) And an unfailingly entertaining and soulful conversationalist. One of the greats 💛

I watched Out Of Africa during a formative year in high school and his character challenged my notions of manhood. Like, you can be a badass lone wolf outdoorsman *and* help a woman with her hair while reciting Coleridge? Blew my adolescent mind. RIP Robert Redford.

MPs,

You can support getting people back to work WITHOUT supporting these cuts.

If half a million people want to return to work (as Labour claims), invest in helping them do it.

Don’t link it to benefit cuts and sanctions.

Fear doesn’t motivate.

Poverty doesn’t incentivise.

PIP 4-point rule impact:

• 1.3m people at risk
• 440k (33%) expected to lose benefits
• 860k expected to keep them via worsened conditions/appeals
• Ratio: 1 loses for every 2 who keep benefits

Why terrorize 1.3m people then? #WelfareNotWarfare #TakingThePip
