According to the Structural Code, the design life of a house (ie how long it must remain fit for purpose) is 50 years. In Spain but also the UK, I looked it up. Sleep well everyone. In your house.
Según el Código Estructural, la vida útil exigida a un edificio ordinario, como una vivienda, es de 50 años.

Vaguely relevant to some of today's discourse in that the Montserrat boys' choir sings on the Rosalía album and it's been a whole SCANDAL, though not for the reasons you'd think.

Was hanging out the washing on the roof earlier and could hear it playing from three different directions, which was properly stirring.
not usually the world's biggest pop music fan so hadn't massively paid attention to Rosalía before and.......my absolute bad because LUX is a masterpiece and she's a musical genius?? gobsmacking album

TIL that chaise longue in Norwegian is sjeselong (pronounced the same), which delights me in the way that 'to knock out' in Portuguese (nocautear, pronounced as you'd hope) does. Is there a term for these? Some sort of cognate?

Cool. Definitely won't be the last AI teammate I worked with, because that one already has a job. Specifically, my old job.

Is there a crossword person in your life? Would you like to get them a unique gift? PERHAPS FOR CHRISTMAS?

Well maybe a bespoke quiz or cryptic crossword would fit the bill, on any theme, of any size, by the author of [counts on fingers] more than 900 published crosswords, i.e. Me. Give me a shout!

Great excitement as a new café is gradually revealed near my house.
Great opposite-of-excitement as they stencil "In Crust We Trust" on the window.
I bet the people of Vienna don't have to put up with this sort of thing.

If you were thinking oh twitter's not so bad, there's just a bit of fascism and that, I urge you to check out the #ed hashtag, which the teen has just alerted me to and is a huge community of young users encouraging/shaming each other into eating disorders.

What is good on Apple, please? I've seen SH, Severance, Ted Lasso and am not totally convinced by the Ruth Wilson/Emma T thing. But it just shows me permutations of these and eight other shows. Presumably there's more.

The line of succession to the throne is wild. Who are these people? It would only take one duff salmon mousse at a dinner party and we would all be ruled by *checks notes* King Master August Brooksbank

Possibly a bit niche but if you are a person who needs to know where in the world places are without the fucking driving directions from your house (30hrs; 2,909km o thank you so much), then you may enjoy this Chrome extension, which makes Google maps clickable again. It has made my morning.
