If you weren’t familiar with Alice’s work, s. e. has a wonderful thread going.
I have a lifetime to think about what a world without Alice in embodied form looks like. To have loved and been loved by her was one of the greatest privileges of my life. I will carry her spirit with me always.
Many thoughts about my cyborg bitch boss goddess accomplice Alice Wong & all the things she meant but there is a tendency for white disabled people to overshadow conversations about disabled BIPOC including in death. I choose to let Alice speak for herself & uplift those she wanted to represent her.
Saw another new Type 6 MAX headed North on I-5!! Almost as exciting as saying hi to the cows

Today Portland City Council will have a final hearing and vote on my Algorithmic Price Fixing Ban!

So grateful for leaders like @agdanrayfield.bsky.social for leading the charge in the courts. Corporations should not be taking advantage of regular people for profit. Affordable rent NOW!
BREAKING NEWS: We’ve secured a $7 million settlement holding the largest U.S. landlord accountable for a price fixing scheme – and putting a check on the rising cost of rentals.

I’ve driven to Salem 2 days in a row after not having to do much driving since session ended and my whole body hurts lol almost as if the system we built forces people to drive even when it’s bad for their health !

I just don’t think nondisabled policymakers would survive a week in my life without absolutely rioting

Do you think the farm animals south of Woodburn along I-5 know that I yell “Hi animals!!! Hello!!!! How are you!!! Have a good day!!!!” Every time I drive by and what they’re doing for my well being

I’m so angry and tired of developers being pitted against disability that I’ve decided I’m going to stun the legislature in February with testimony about my inability to make garlic bread

It’s really depressing when the state of housing advocacy is: Do disabled people deserve accessible housing or will market rate developers scream, cry, and stomp???

why is it that longtime Democrats make you jump through hoops and mental gymnastics and interpretive dance for them to support common sense legislation but the new Dem (former R) understands and offers support after a 5 minute convo

Even if you don’t primarily reside in an area that’s a hot spot, the training helps you get better at keeping an eye out and knowing how to report, record, etc

When I was driving home from Salem, before I even got to the interstate, a fellow driver passed me and stuck half their body out the window to flip me off. Dunno what they were mad about - me doing the speed limit? Road rage is really something.

Placebo effect of day 1 of SSRI transition going so hard I not only went to Salem for work but then came home and made dinner ! Wow !

Disability Intimacy, the next anthology in this collection, is delicious, confrontational, celebratory, fierce, lusty, and all things in between, rooting disability experience in the body and community.

Alice also curated a killer anthology, Disability Visibility, gathering fantastic reads from disabled writers and artists of all sorts. It's a rich and complex collection, but also one that can be a great starting point for talking with nondisabled people who are new to these topics.

There is something funny about having all of Alice’s books, which center disability, on the top of my bookshelf, where I, a disabled person, cannot reach them, because it’s my nonfiction books I’ve finished shelf.

Portland, please stand with crash victims and their families, have some hot chocolate, and hear about what we're doing to prevent others from experiencing the devastating impacts of traffic violence. It's a somber, powerful event that also manages to be hopeful. Hope to see you there 💛
Portland! Please join Families for Safe Streets, Oregon Walks, 1000 Friends of Oregon, @bikeloudpdx.bsky.social , @thestreettrust.org @pbotinfo.bsky.social for 2025 World Day of Remembrance.

Roughly 40,000 people are killed in traffic crashes each year, with speeding contributing to nearly a third of those fatalities.

On #WDoR2025, we remember and honor those who have lost their lives and those who have been injured, and we act to implement evidence-based solutions to end this crisis.
