There’s some ill-informed panic out there about medetomidine and dexmedetomidine.
They’re both sedating drugs, not pain meds. Dex is the kind used in people, aka Precedex. They’re similar to xylazine, in that they’re all in the same class.
We DON’T have data yet on relative overdose risk here…

This is definitely more of a nuanced discussion than can fit here, but the current cannabis market is not a good example of how to create safe supply. Ceding all control to corporate interests and failing to enact any meaningful regulation (or ability to enforce such) is the problem I see most IMO.

Another day, another video of an awake & talking Sheriff’s deputy getting Narcan & calling it a “fentanyl exposure overdose.”
It’s disturbing that this many years into an overdose crisis one group of first responders still don’t know what an OD looks like nor indications for the Narcan they carry.
