I know this may shock some of you, but it's possible to mourn the state of our country and the amount of violence that it has, while NOT condoning the actions of the man who was killed. Humans are complicated, and we can feel more than one thing at a time.

We don’t yet know what motivated the person who shot and killed Charlie Kirk, but this kind of despicable violence has no place in our democracy. Michelle and I will be praying for Charlie’s family tonight, especially his wife Erika and their two young children.
