NATO is to blame for this war for 2 distinct, russophobic reasons.

1. They were seen by our former colonies as being a better option than Russia is
2. They actually were a better option to our former colonies than Russia is.

OTD in 2005 Russian foreign minister Lavrov said it was ok if Ukraine joined NATO.

So it's obvious that we got that promise from NATO cos if it existed he'd have said "no they can't, we got a pinky promise from a dead guy made when Ukraine was still our colony"
