As I saw the video of Trump clapping his hands for Putin and warmly shaking his hand, I thought “I hope the ghost of Ronald Reagan haunts him for the rest of his pathetic life.”

NB: This picture of Reagan is from “The Evil Empire” speech. And buddy did he nail it there.

Allegedly, there is a super-secret, secure bunker under the site where the East Wing once sat. If the Supreme Court hadn't handed Trump the freedom to act as criminally as he wants, he should be indicted for treason for intentionally weakening a national security structure.

An exceptionally well-researched piece on Stephen Miller by @gregsargent.bsky.social. It’s well worth your time. The irony that Greg points to is that the Miller-Trump immigration approach will make America less great, less prosperous & untrue to its best traditions.

There’s a big difference between an economy that’s growing more slowly and one that’s stalled. A stall means job creation barely keeps up with population growth—or not even that. That’s why unemployment is drifting up and folks can feel the ground shifting under them.

But this report may understate inflation a bit.

Here's why: Usually the BLS collects prices all through November. But the shutdown kept it closed for the first half of November.

So more prices than usual were collected in the middle of "Black Friday" sales.

Inflation report for November just came out.

Headline rate: 2.7% over the year, down from 3%.
Core inflation: 2.6%.

Inflation is both slowing (this was an unexpectedly good report), yet still above the Fed's 2% target.

The Americans Who Saw All This Coming—but Were Ignored and Maligned
Call them the Cassandras: the people—mostly not white and male—who smelled the fascism all over Trump from jump street. Why were they “alarmists,” and how did “anti-alarmism” become cool?
