The last month of the anti-Mamdani campaign was an absolutely shameful undertaking, an attempt to rip the city and Democratic coalition apart and I'm very happy to see it failed.

Congratulations to all the Democratic candidates who won tonight. It’s a reminder that when we come together around strong, forward-looking leaders who care about the issues that matter, we can win. We’ve still got plenty of work to do, but the future looks a little bit brighter.

DEFEND - loudly oppose proposed takeovers of media institutions, fight political battles around it, make it a key Dem issue

DELAY - use shareholder lawsuits and other creative legal devices to harass ongoing takeover efforts

ATTACK - aggressively attack co-opted companies as GOP mouthpieces
How would you, in three steps, fix the media environment?

It seems like a complicated problem that does not have an easy, three-step solution, as much as we would want it to.

Retired intelligence analysts confirm what the political scientists are telling us — and what the world outside is telling us — the goal of these people is the end of law, the end of democracy, and the end of a recognizable republic.

Here’s the original clip of Ronald Reagan from April 25, 1987, where he delivered a complete and total rebuke against tariffs. Trump's calling Reagan’s words here “FAKE” and “fraudulent.” They’re 100% real. And the original clip is actually far worse for Trump, as much is left out of the ad:

The new deal paradigm worked pretty well for the middle class. Oligarchs just rig the system in their favor.
Would you have been better off as a working person in 1950 or in the gilded age?
Who gets to decide who gets those distributions ? Isn’t that what we are seeing in the WH right now ? Take money from the super rich and keep it ?

Does not the decision maker(s) have the most power and ability to accumulate wealth ?
Not necessarily true. If vast wealth accumulation is redistributed, at the end of the day, one could more or less be capped from egregious wealth. Doesn’t mean no more wealth, just not the grotesque kind. Old UK aristocracy & Gilded Age barons were greatly reduced by new taxes

Reopening the government?
Lowering the cost of groceries?

Nope. Building himself a new $300 million ballroom.
Leavitt: "At this moment in time, of course, the ballroom is really the president's main priority."

Our system rewards exploitation almost exclusively, which means only the meanest, most heartless motherfuckers rise to the top. People willing to deny a kid’s lifesaving surgery, or make bombs to murder refugees in tents, or inaugurate the age of truly universal mass surveillance. Rule by the worst.

Just a quick PSA that you have no reasonable expectation of privacy in your public movements. This is why law enforcement can follow YOU or photograph YOU in public without reasonable suspicion or probable cause. Law enforcement doesn’t get “extra” protection in that regard. Goose/gander etc.
Because he’s doing his job…reporting. Because we still live in a free country with a First Amendment and a free press.

the president has destroyed the east wing of the white house without so much as a word of input from anyone else to build a royal ballroom paid for with bribes
NEW: After The Washington Post reported Monday on the demolition of the "East Wing facade," a new picture obtained by Law Dork that was taken on Tuesday shows that a substantial portion of the entirety of the East Wing has been demolished.

That rage you feel, as you watch the White House get leveled? That's how we beat Trump. Harness that, refine it, find ways to get other people equally enraged. Get them so mad they can't see straight. None of this kumbaya BS. White-hot, unreasoning anger, that demands the people who did this PAY.

it's dizzying to me that stories like this -- a corrupt grift built on democracy-wrecking lies that culminated in a coup attempt -- barely breakthrough anymore. they're just daily background noise now.
COLLINS: The NYT is reporting your legal team is seeking $230 million from your own DOJ now in response to the investigations into you. Is that something you want?

TRUMP: It could be, yeah. I don't even talk to them about it. All I know is they would owe me a lot of money. They rigged the election.
