Europa Clipper to ‘Taste’ Interstellar Comet 3I/ATLAS in Historic Flyby
In a historic first, NASA's Europa Clipper will fly through the tail of interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS. Learn how its advanced instruments will 'taste' a visitor from another star.

If a temporary resident of the White House can totally demolish the East Wing to build a gaudy ballroom, without any authority, approval, or regulation, he can tear down the rest of the White House to build a Walmart. That this destruction is allowed underscores how off the rails our country is now.

We’re in a moment now where it would be worth people taking three hours to watch Gandhi, particularly the scene of the salt march. There is value to making the brutality of your opponent so plain as day that no one can argue with it. The clarity of that brought down an empire

Mind-blowing science fact of the day: 800,000 years ago the ancestral species of modern humans almost went extinct. That species, our forefathers and foremothers, lived on Earth on the precipice of extinction for over 100,000 years.

If a military parade marches down a street and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?

With the $45 million being spent on the president's parade here’s what that money could do for veterans instead:

House 3k veterans for an entire year in transitional housing

Provide full PTSD treatment for 3.75k veterans for a year

Deliver job training to 9k veterans through 12-week programs

The brain drain will be when scientists are forced into other careers/jobs so that they can keep paying the bills. They will never return.

There aren't enough science jobs in other countries to absorb even a fraction of those laid off.
On a basic level- you can't expect US talent to sit on their hands and wait until maybe, hopefully there's a job for them. A handful might be able to do that, but the majority are going to leave. Countries are actively seeking to take advantage of US brain drain.

This should be amplified across all media outlets. They have no understanding or care how much damage this bill will do if it does in fact become law. All the millionaires in congress cannot relate to 'food or meds', not to mention the loss of services. It is the Murder Bill.
I had a suicide last night because of this bill and I know of several disabled folks who have the same plans if it passes the senate because they will lose everything. I cannot even send them to the hospital because they will just be released in 72 hours with a 50k bill they cannot pay

Well, this could very well mean the end of the flying phase of my life. How grotesque.
The greed of this era is staggering.
F*ck any airline that installs these seats. Next there will be coin operated bathrooms.

Trump: I'm going to give you this tiddly wink for $1 million.

Billionaire: Why would I want that?

Trump: You can cash it in for a favor.

Billionaire: I'll take 100.

This is not a hard concept.

Also one of the things about a lot of intersectional research is that it helps a large swath of people or provides insights abt a broader scope than the particular people/groups studied. The classic example I know of is disability studies where design for disability turns out to help the gen pop +
There’s been some “advice” coming from some quarters for scientists not to focus on DEI-related funding cuts.

I wholly reject this concept.

Cutting programs designed to reduce science and healthcare disparities is as detrimental to science as anything else, both morally and functionally.
