Worth repeating: Greenland is an autonomous territory 90% populated by Greenlandic Inuit people. The US attempting to "take it over" is a neo-colonial project that, beyond being just a terrible idea, would undermine an indigenous community's decades-long effort to assume greater independence.

One thing I wrote about here is how technology has made buses *way* more convenient while techno-futurists were obsessed with flying taxis and self-driving cars.

Smart proposal here from Charles Komanoff, one of the architects of Manhattan congestion pricing.

Policies like this can prevent AVs from causing crushing gridlock if/when they scale. The best time to implement them is now, before they're widespread.

The #1 reason to vote when Illinois progressive taxation comes up. Illinois cannot create money like the feds. We need to claw it back form billionaires.

I didn’t the last time I got covid a year into LC recovery. I just have no way of knowing: how I will feel, if it will better, and how long it will last.)

Indeed it is the Chicago/Evanston border. I'd love to see one of the general travel lanes in each direction at the border be converted to a protected bike lane.

South of Howard, Sheridan should get a camera enforced dedicated bus lane

ProPublica spoke to about 150 people who had lived in homeless encampments when cities cleared them out in “sweeps.”

We distributed notecards so people could tell us about the toll in their own words.

Best reason to stay on X, and to block/mute aggressively to manage abuse: Leftists benefit from watching thoughtful well-intentioned non-leftists trying to figure things out together. It helps you figure out where you might build bridges with them. (Also, there are lots of leftists there.)
Why it's Wise to stay on X:
• Crucial to stay well-informed about Palantír
• Understand the arts of the Enemy
• Let's be real, rag-tag band of furries and elves has no chance
• If you can't beat them join them

We warned you that self-driving cars would just create self-driving traffic jams, and here they are.

The car industry has no solution to the shortage of space in cities. Public transit, cycling, and walking are all part of the answer, but cars are not.
Waymo privatized another public street:

Chanel approaching 4th, San Francisco

Possibly queued for a Billie Eilish show at Chase Center ~half mile away.

The light rail train on 4th seen passing in front of this roboherd has more passenger capacity than all of them combined.

• Lots of working-class folks live in 🟢🏘️
• There are lots of jobs in 🟡🏭
• We’ve already built 🔵🚆
• But we’re missing 🔴🛤️
• So those workers have to drive on ⚫️🛣️
• Therefore we should #BuildTheTunnel 🔴🚇

CTA takes from more frequent red and blue to keep up frequencies on less frequent lines. A missed run on a low frequency line could mean waiting a half hour instead of 15 minutes. On the red it may mean 14 instead of 7.
Yesterday, the CTA L lines ran:
99% Yellow
99% Pink
96% Brown
95% Orange
83% Green
82% Blue
73% Red
56% Purple
... of scheduled trains. Since 2020, CTA L Service has been cut by 2%. Riders deserve frequent and reliable transit, with return to at least pre-2020 levels.

Our city will have exactly as much gridlock as it makes room for.
Morning rush-hour near London's Oval station. Trains pass underground every few minutes and there's a continuous flood of bicycles, but still there's one lane of gridlocked traffic. Your city will always have exactly as much gridlock as it makes room for.

Recipients who received the half-price fare discount ended up taking so many more transit trips that the overall amount they spent on transit fares actually *went up*.

This suggests that a deep discount in transit fares for low-income residents could actually be a net revenue boost for agencies!

#SacredCowParking No cost on street parking is not only “untouchable” it’s outside the Overton Window of discussable/debatable topics.

Even on big city residential streets with no businesses and ample private garages.

Most pernicious when preventing pedestrian and cycling traffic calming projects.

Slow buses cut people off from opportunity. Stop respacing is controversial (everything is controversial) and yet the savings and benefits are huge. (We can help.)
