Tired They/Them Chicago bike dyke. Lover of people-centered urbanism. Radical daydreaming about public housing, cats, end of empire, universal basic income.
The amount of drivers blasting through stop signs tonight is deeply disturbing

I’m cat sitting for someone with a good view of that parking lot on Morse between Paulina and Clark and every time I see that lot I boil with anger. Rogers Park needs more housing and we’re wasting valuable space to store cars. The lot isn’t even a quarter of the way full right now. What a waste!!

Even with slowing down for the snow it’s faster to bike than use the CTA. I wish this wasn’t the case.

Is this a CDOT issue or a CDOT and aldermanic discretion issue? Neither?

Damen and Lawrence has a concrete barrier around the bike lane. Great. Love it.

The 5700 block of Ashland where cars regularly go 50mph does not have a concrete barrier around the bike lane. Currently there is no bike lane.

Why is Wilson so wide between Damen and Western?!

Purposefully left my kitchen window down. This was the reading after the oven finished preheating. Just opened a window. I’ll add a window fan in like ten minutes

It’s pretty homophobic there’s no Western BRT to help all the Rogers Park queers get to Dorothy in a reasonable amount of time via CTA

CDOT is back on their bullshit: roping off bike lanes without warning signage 🙄🙄

Bullshit starts at Clark at Winnemac both directions.

I wrote this piece for NABSA based on what we’re seeing with Divvy. Treating bikeshare as essential transportation & backing it up with real policy & investment has delivered results: higher ridership, system stability, stronger equity outcomes & stable pricing in Chicago

Treating Bikeshare as Essential Transportation
Bikeshare systems across North America prove their value every day. Read this post from David Powe about bikeshare in Chicago!

Still seeing way too many cars that haven’t moved since the record snowfall, at the very least. Car storage is such a poor use of public streets!!!

My core principles for fixing Chicagos budget

- we need to change the structure of municipal revenue
- we need to look at spending and we can't do that without a full analysis of the CPD budget
- we need to commit to a budget structure that will allow city govt to expand

Hey ChicagoSky, Cinnamon is a great and loving dog who just went through a very rough time. If you are someone who can support good routines, please consider having an extra friend around for the holidays.

Ecstatic that the all affordable development at Sheridan and Rogers was approved🥳🥳

Thank goodness this sidewalk isn’t used by hundreds of people every single day. It would be a tragedy if it was so easy for an errant driver to end someone’s life

/sarcasm

I hate it here.

Picked up my bike today
No more CTA 🥳🥳

I left the house later than I intended and thought I was going to need a ride share to today's cat sitting meet and greet. Thankfully my Evanston sit is right by a Metra station and there's a train that gets me very close to my meet and greet 🙏🏾🙏🏾
Praying there's an e-divvy to save me a long walk

I have spent a disgusting amount on ride share since my bike has been in the shop 😭😭

I said yesterday was my last but I had a schedule mix up for a cat sitting meet and greet and it necessitated an Uber 😔

Second story I’ve seen this morning of a pedestrian being killed by a bad driver with no consequences. If you want to get away with murder in the US just do it with a car.

This intersection in particular is RIFE with red light runners.

Any chance you'll advocate for a red light camera here @chialderwoman.bsky.social?
