Literally the authoritarian playbook:
1. Call your opponents terrorists.
2. Deploy state power against them.

There's nothing subtle or confusing or complex about what's happening. The *outcome* is uncertain but the authoritarianism is right out in the open.

“the viral outrage disseminated on social media in response to ridiculous claims actually reduces the effectiveness of collective action. The result is a media environment that keeps us in a state of debilitating fear & anger, endlessly reacting to our oppressors instead of organizing against them.”
This is 100% on the money. Exactly where we are right now.

"We don’t need any more irony-poisoned hot takes or cathartic, irreverent snark. We need to collectively decide what kind of world we actually do want, and what we’re willing to do to achieve it."

Just in case anyone's wondering how bad she's lying: the only people who can check books out of the LOC are congressional staff.

Library cards for use of the research centers are only available to people over the age of 16, and researchers under 18 need permission from a parent or guardian.
Reporter: The president fired the Librarian of Congress. Why?

Leavitt: There were quite concerning things she had done at the Library of Congress in the pursuit of DEI and putting inappropriate books in the library for children.
