we have had this situation since the 13th century in England Trudeau said he would modernize the system as almost every other 'democracy' has but it is the way those that make the rules like it
All of this is to say that "We had no choice" or "But PP would be worse" are *terrible* arguments for shrugging and accepting whatever Carney does now.
November 11, 2025 at 2:51 PM
the first past the post electoral system we still have even after Trudeau repeatedly promised to reform it makes it very likely that voters will vote against someone rather then for someone
think about it most politicians are known to only a few while the last leader is well known to most or hated
Please stop saying things like "We had to vote for Carney, it was the only alternative to PP".

It's just not true. In fact, that kind of thinking made and continues to make things worse.

The federal Conservatives have their own version of the Reform Act in their constitution that permits members of the Conservative caucus to work to getting enough members to support a vote on a new leader at any time.
There is no requirement to wait until January to vote on removing their leader

The entire right-wing propaganda machine came after Zohran Mamdani.

The president and his allies came after him.

Democratic leaders, by and large, did not have his back until the last minute.

He still won, turning out historic numbers and inspiring young voters.

His politics can win anywhere.

A common pattern of abusers when they've gone too far. They weasel their way back in only to sew chaos and damage at an even more intense level when they think they're 'safe'. Never forget. Abusers count on it.

For almost four decades, Nancy Pelosi has served the American people and worked to make our country better. No one was more skilled at bringing people together and getting legislation passed – and I will always be grateful for her support of the Affordable Care Act.
