I'm not someone who has heroes or thinks we ought to wait around for them to show up. But I will say that after spending years going around the world talking to all kinds of people who did the right thing under far more dangerous conditions, the lack of spine from so many US officials is appalling.
Trump is like "I am appointing Dr. Doom to run HHS, and Saruman to run the FBI," meanwhile almost everyone in a position to fight back is either silent, Mr Magooing around bumping into things, preemptively quitting, or offering to work with Elon Musk
