This coot was busy dabbling and diving and has water droplets on its back and falling from its bill. I often find it difficult to photograph these dark colored birds but the bright light and contrast of this January morning helped.

Dank walk again this morning. Quiet for birds, the highlight was the large flock of finches back on the canal, mainly Linnets with Chaffinches & Goldfinches. Also Siskins, 100's of Winter Thrushes, Kingfisher, Starlings, Jackdaws & a young Crow still being fed by it's parents. #ukbirding

Metasequoia glyptostroboides, also called dawn redwood, is a deciduous, coniferous tree. These three trees in fall #foliage with cones are on State Street & MLK Blvd, Bristol, #Virginia.
