Pittsburgh and Tennessee with a dash of Charlotte. Big Phil Kessel guy. Aspiring baseball history nerd. Josh Gibson apologist.
The Pirates are now 40-40 since the beginning of June. Which is . . .weird.

Imagine how good the Pirates could be if they had anybody who could hit.

Jenn Pawol sighting in Charlotte!

The Misery Index thinks Steelers fans should be more miserable than Bengals fans. Lol.

Why are Andrew Heaney and Tommy Pham still Pirates?
July 31, 2025 at 10:10 PM
Ben Cherington is a terrible GM who should have been fired a long time ago.

Despite that, I approach each move he makes with cautious optimism simply because that's what being a fan is. If I'm fully convinced in my heart that it will all turn to shit, then I should simply stop following the team.

Don't look now, but Tommy Pham has the third highest position player bWAR on the Pirates.

Every team in the top 15 that is not currently in a playoff spot is within 4 games of one. Except the Pirates, who are 13 games out.

A uniquely horrible season for my Bucs.

If you didn't love that swing-off or would have preferred an undefined amount of extra innings, I think you might just hate fun.

Aw man, I wanted to see Pete go.

Oneil Cruz has just hit a 488-foot nuke in the Home Run Derby. Paul Skenes is starting the All-Star Game for the second year in a row. The Pirates are allowing the fewest runs per game in the National League.

The team is 39-58 and every fan of the franchise is ready to stop watching baseball

If a player gets suspended or banned for gambling, the league should be required to publicly announce which betting app they were using. Let's associate actual names with the disastrous consequences they produce.
Perfect, no notes

If these are the options, I'm driving to a different gas station.

The ABC crew keeps saying “the best two words in sports, Game 7” but nobody is going on the record about the worst two words in sports

Fucking finally.
Sources: The Pirates have claimed utilityman Ronny Simón off waivers from the Marlins. RHP Tanner Rainey has been designated for assignment to open a spot on the roster
June 2, 2025 at 6:34 PM
Once again, why is Tanner Rainey on this team?
June 1, 2025 at 11:40 PM
The Pirates are living proof that small ball is no substitute for talent.

Interesting.
May 24, 2025 at 1:57 AM
Why the fuck is Tanner Rainey on this team?

Listening to two Jewish dudes talk about the odds of the Pope throwing the first pitch at a Chicago White Sox game might be my ultimate "How can you not be romantic about baseball?" moment.
NEW POD

- Pope Leo XIV loves the White Sox, not the Cubs -- but we still have SO many questions
- special guest Ryan Spilborghs on the Rafael Devers saga and the Rockies' historically bad start
- PIT fires Derek Shelton
- Good/Bad/Uggla on Cade Horton, the Royals, NAIA tourney, and much more!

The Pirates are on an L7, have been swept back to back, and somehow went up two spots on the ESPN power rankings.

Let's be honest: This team is better than the Rockies and White Sox, and nobody else.

Your 2025 Pittsburgh Pirates are on pace to lose 110 games.

That would be the third most losses in the entire history of the franchise, and the most since 1952.

And Paul Skenes is on this team.

Your Pittsburgh Pirates were 17-19 after 36 games last season. Not good by any means, but close enough to hope.

This year they are 12-24. This is a failure that goes beyond merely having a cheap owner.
