I have a show on lovewillsavetheday.fm this Sunday, 8–9PM, as part of their Open Air weekend. I'll be playing a mix of downtempo, IDM, dubby stuff and a few other related bits. Experimental, textural music to decompress to.

Can vouch for JR Moores’ scribbles; I have an excellent Perfect Drug era Trent Reznor sketch inside my copy of Electric Wizards and it was only after I read the book that it dawned on me how much it must have pained him to do it.
If anyone would like signed copies of ELECTRIC WIZARDS or OFF THE GROUND before XMAS (for yourself or others), I can get some stock here, scribble inside and send them out. RRP plus postage to wherever you are. Let me know. 📚 ❤️ 🎶

Damn. This is amazing. £325 per week, paid monthly, for 3 years - and the result was a profit for the Irish economy:

FINALLY got round to reading/devouring @coseyfannitutti.bsky.social’s autobiography. What a life. What an artist. What an inspiration.

I’m off to go make something.

I considered writing a long carefully constructed argument laying out the harms and limitations of AI, but instead I wrote about being a hater. Only humans can be haters.
I Am An AI Hater
I am an AI hater. This is considered rude, but I do not care, because I am a hater.

The new @worriedaboutsatan.bsky.social is rhythmic, dubby and droney in all the best ways; I've been playing it lots over the past couple of weeks to drift away and clear my head. All proceeds go to Cancer Research UK. Get on it.

Just imagining Mr William Emmanuel Bevan in a recording booth singing "You huuuurt me" over and over, clearing his throat in between each take, to get it sounding juuuuuust right.
I tried listening to Burial once. I could tell he was using samples. Like, don't ask me how I knew, but something just felt a bit sampled with some of the sounds. I got this little voice in my chest, it goes "He's using a sampler", so I turned the music off right then and there.

Few singers ever have possessed this quality. And few voices have ever made me so emotional. Even the Sabbath and Ozzy songs that aren’t necessarily deemed emotional can set me off. I associate Ozzy’s voice with being working class, with being bullied for being weird, with just fucking going for it.

This, from John Darnielle’s 33 ⅓ book on Master of Reality, is as perfect a description of Ozzy’s voice as you’ll ever find. He sounded like he was from the street. He sounded like the everyman and yet like no man ever has before or ever will again. He sounds like me and yet nothing like me.

Neighbour sent me a photo of a sheep playing football in our back garden. Wondering if there’s a better sheep-based football pun to be made than Demba Baa.

Very proud of my pals getting featured on Bandcamp (and—shameless plug—I did the artwork)

This past weekend I was at my friend’s stag do, where we rented a manor house and threw him his own festival. We all took on DJ names (mine was Brian Emo) and did sets, and we designed merch, including this slipmat that I’m very proud of.
