Policymakers learned nothing from the war in Vietnam, but I learned how much I hated war, growing up in the wake of it

Cicadas are coming to the northeast this summer, and I’m working on a poem about time. I’m hoping friends will send me storing their cicada encounters, to put into the poem, which will be in “we” voice like the swarm.

Reupping this, because SHRIMP LIFE, I guess.
Just caught myself scrunching my shoulders up around my ears, so please consider this your friendly reminder to de-shrimp yourself.

You guys. YOU GUYS. This guy is a pope front runner. I am now actively angry that popes change their names.

BOSTON MA: On this 6th night of Passover, over 300 Jews have gathered to demand the release of Rümeysa Öztürk and the passage of the Dignity Not Deportations Act. As authoritarianism encroaches on our city & across the US, we fight for freedom — not only for ourselves, but for all who are oppressed.

99% of activism doesn't need to be posted on social media. Expecting people to post everything they do as some kind of litmus test isn't just wrong, it's dangerous. People are more than what they post, and you should be, too.

Don’t bother asking
if you are doing enough,
for enough
is a destination
that you can never reach,
no, don’t bother asking
if you are doing enough,
ask instead
if the something
the something you are doing
is at least a step
towards that destination.

I don’t need to go into space, it’s none of my business. I’m a big Earth guy, I can’t get enough of her work. Daffodils! Are you kidding me? Bison! Miraculous. Sending a slinky down the stairs? Incredible. Mariachi music? Yes, please.

Chapattis for breakfast on Passover is the best. Takes about 15 minutes start to finish. Then you melt some butter, fry an egg, top it with some feta, and grind a little black pepper
