My hot take is that all conference type events should be minimally hybrid events. There are ways to make it more secure and there’s ways to be intentional about who gets invited, but I don’t think that should hinge on whether someone can be there in person, given COVID and general accessibility. 🤷🏽♀️

Superman and Fantastic Four both seem to be asking the same question: "Can you make a sincere, heartfelt superhero film in 2025?"
I'd submit that the answer is "no" and that this is because the genre relies on America having a positive global reputation.

This is very bad. Although entirely predictable. Once more the humanities are being cut back to prop up STEM and, increasingly, AI investment (including at the expense of bench science). In the past, cuts to humanities were promoted on two separate logic streams that do not hold true: /1
