I've written to Keir Starmer, Kemi Badenoch and Nigel Farage, urging them to join me in condemning Elon Musk's dangerous remarks inciting violence yesterday.

As leaders, we must stand together and make clear Musk will face serious consequences for these actions.

Your weekly reminder that voter "concern" with immigration doesn't correspond to actual immigration levels.

It corresponds to the amount of coverage the media gives immigration.

This an entirely self-fulfilling mess, and it is entirely pointless.

The question arising from this incident is less: why are there still racist incidents at football

It is mych more: why can we establish zero tolerance of racist abuse in football grounds so effectively yet accept impunity for racial harassment + abuse elsewhere?

Yvette Cooper repeatedly refused to give a straight answer just now on Today to straight Q “Will councils get more money to pay care workers more?” She repeatedly committed to higher carer pay but wouldn’t commit to money so councils can fund it. Think that speaks volumes about the mess we are in.

I am so chuffed by this. There are, weirdly, more ways to consume bike races than meets the eye.
Loving @nedboulting.bsky.social coverage of Étoile de Bessèges via the Never Strays Far pod and his substack.
Having cancelled my Discovery plus subscription I'm really enjoying following this race without images.

Where were the dozens of leading articles on Grant Shapps, who used fake names in what some have described as a “get rich quick” scheme? And continued this work when he was an MP?

Shapps held 9 ministerial positions for the Tories over 14 years.
Almost impossible to imagine a similar article being written about a male (read: any other in history) Chancellor.

One argument in this article includes a man saying her master’s course wasn’t very hard. And that because she ‘only’ got a 2.1 at Oxford, she shouldn’t have got in.

I think it'd be helpful if journalists talked a little less about imaginary Taylor Swift conspiracies & a little more about the policy developments happening in front of their face. For more on this radical & earth-shattering idea, read the newsletter iandunt.substack.com/p/starmer-de...
Starmer deserves a better class of critic
