Asked if Keir Starmer believes British people want to "see refugee children pulled out of school and deported after 10 years in this country”, his spokesman says that “what the British public wants and what this government was elected on a mandate to deliver was to secure our borders"

What about any gold they might have in their teeth?
Govt minister Alex Norris is asked if the govt will take jewellery from people [fleeing war and persecution]. Norris says the govt won't be taking peoples wedding rings but they will seize assets.

That Glasman is held up as some kind of guru speaks to the intellectual poverty of the Labour right.
The seeming influence of Glasman is genuinely bizarre. What exactly are his credentials as a strategic political genius?
Late to this, but if the Sunday Times is correct that Morgan McSweeney spent one and a half hours last week with Lord Glasman then he isn't fit to fill any senior position in government.

Starmer’s conference speech increasingly looking less like a reset of Labour’s direction and more like an attempt to distance himself from it

I watched it on BBC2 in 1990 😱
I was lucky enough to watch #TwinPeaks in the order it came out but for many, the first two seasons were hard to come by so #FireWalkWithMe was their introduction.

Not until the show hit Netflix and released on DVD did it take off again.

How did you first find "Twin Peaks"?

"If you don't let me punch you in the face, the other guy will kick you in the nuts" doesn't seem like a sustainable political message.

This contribution to the volume of human misery is yet another policy from Labour based on a false premise, in this case that refugees are overly attracted to Britain. It will increase bureaucratic limbo, thus making worse the problem of "cohesion" it purports to solve.

Only a truly despicable human being could stand in front of a camera bemoaning "racism returning to UK politics" and then a few days later introduce a new crackdown on asylum seekers

This is as bad as anything proposed by Reform.

Leaving refugees in permanent limbo and unable to build a new life in the UK would be a complete abdication of our humanitarian responsibilities

Starmer is good at the long game, in the sense that rakes are long
Starmer is good at the long game, I'm loving having a Labour government, they've given my NHS employed wife two good pay rises since last July, after fourteen years of sod all.
Life is really good these days here in Richmond and I suspect others may notice it too.

I dunno, if you've made a bonkers pledge to build a gazillion new homes despite a skills shortage, should this really be your priority?

Streeting: Just remembered this from March
Congratulations here to Wes Streeting for condensing the essence of the Westminster Monoparty into just 23 seconds. Outstanding work.

I actually want Starmer & McSweeney to carry on as long as possible now, this is slapstick comedy gold
Keir Starmer's spokesman says he spoke to his senior team today and "has been assured that no No. 10 staff briefed against ministers."

Asked why he apologised to Wes Streeting if he believes his staff didn't brief against him, he replies that he "apologised for the situation he found himself in"

Gavazzeni claimed “many, many, many Italians” were alleged to have been involved, without providing a figure. “There were Germans, French, English … people from all western countries who paid large sums of money to be taken there to shoot civilians.”
“There were no political or religious motivations. They were rich people who went there for fun and personal satisfaction. We are talking about people who love guns who perhaps go to shooting ranges or on safari in Africa.” www.theguardian.com/world/2025/n...
