Shockingly, Vancouver has the lowest rate of beverage container recycling in the region at 51%. This is unacceptable for a city so connected to our natural environment. Here's my plan to fix it!

This is not a tax cut but a tax shift. User fees are regressive, meaning the poorest pay the greatest portion of their income for services. While not perfect, property taxes are more progressive. This is an attack that shifts the cost burden from one end of the income spectrum to the other.

The crank up in utility fees, parking, and service fees will be the single largest increase in barrier to services in my lifetime.
Prior to this year, Ken Sim and ABC increased fees 55 times. We now face another round of proposed fees that will push the total into triple digits. These fees will create barriers to accessing services and impose huge cost pressures on businesses already struggling to stay in Vancouver.
Here are the increases to Engineering fees in the "zero means zero" budget that Vancouver City Council will vote on today:

It’s time for Vancouver to stop subsidizing offshore billionaires who use our city’s services to keep their luxury yachts afloat. I will raise taxes on luxury yachts and use the funds to support food banks, doctors, and artists—things that actually matter to the people who live here!
