Tomorrow, a certain online mega-retailer launches a book sale, just days before Indie Bookstore Day on 4/26. This is no coincidence; Bookstore Day is one of the largest revenue drivers for indies.

Indies need our support to thrive & build community spaces for all...mega-retailers do not.

it's important this go as viral as the original story for morale purposes if nothing else. despite the image they project these people are NOT unaccountable. consequences CAN be forced. focused anger and outrage MATTERS.

Watching people post about how they hate Nazis and are committed to fighting fascism but the one thing that would be easiest for them to do is stop publishing on substack, but they won’t do it.

You’re not fighting fascism. You’re enabling it.

The way it works is that you strip fundamental rights from targets with less political support that people will turn their consciences off to justify persecuting and then eventually the state can do it to anyone, that’s always been the plan bsky.app/profile/pbum...
Setting aside the incredibly dangerous and fascist aspect of this, is there actual evidence that Khalil was a “Hamas supporter”? Or is the standard for a green-card holder being sent to a secret location and possibly deported just “critical of Israel”?

Of course! To go a bit further into depth:

What people like about the branding of women in leadership isn’t “I can do everything a man can do,” it’s “I can do everything a man refuses to.”

1. Reflect (not just on their opponent but how they can improve.
2. Dig down deep into the core issue
I appreciate everything you say, but this fully knocked me over. Like, OF COURSE?? But also I guess I needed to read what you said specifically. Thank you, Imani.

The best way, I find, would be to teach her the sociology (etymology at times) of how some words are used.

So for instance: “Black people” vs “Blacks—“ what are the different implications about the author’s POV based off of the words used.

“Migrant” vs “immigrant.”
“Disabled” vs “special needs”
It's so hard to teach my 20yo how to decide what to trust, because I feel like so much of my internal "rubric" is just a synthesis of 47 years of experiences and reading, and I don't know how to distill that for her.

I try! But it's clear she's still very iffy.
