Speaking of italics, here's a reminder: Never use Garamond if your writing includes italics. The italicized verticals, for some reason, were developed via a random-angle generator. So distracting and chaotic. Avoid!

my most reactionary pseudo-“bring back bullying” take is that it’s actively hurting a lot of these guys to be coddled about how this isn’t their fault, etc. and they could really stand a “get the fuck over yourself” type push on this issue
I think this is true and what’s crazy is it doesn’t have to be, the Male Doomer Industry is cooking people’s brains. I’m a bald hobbit and I’m married with two kids, you can find a partner if you stop being a freak bsky.app/profile/thac...
One of these days we're really going to be truthful about how this entire cultural/political moment is about men with no game being mad that women have better option than them...one of those options being "happy and alone."

If you're ever told to be outraged about anything having to do with health insurance and the sole source of the outraged framing is the American Society of Anesthesiologists, just move on because you're being played like a fiddle by the major cause of out-of-network balance billing
Read a little bit more about this, and goddammit we're getting played you guys. The original link from the ASA is very dishonest. They are moving to the CMS standard for anesthesia billing. In other words, they are going to pay the same way they do for Medicare and Medicaid.
This is not to defend Anthem in any way, but that viral article about anesthesiologists is published by their cartel. There's a reason it's one of the highest paid specialties, and why a very common surprise medical bill is for an out of network anesthesiologist on an in-network surgery

The existence of clerics really does imply that warlocks are just the terrible metaphysical credit risks who couldn’t get a loan from an actually good provider. Subprime spellcasters.

I think this is at least partly about how it’s easier to look at phone than do anything else. But nobody mentally assigns time to looking at phone, even in retrospect. So pretty soon you have a depleted life (and live in a depleted culture) and your only explanations about why must come from Phone

Just briefly, your honor, I have a joke about the legal issues in this case, you may have heard it already but in case you haven't I'll try to quickly go through it, it starts back in June 1215 when Magna Carta was issu

Filing briefs at the last minute is fun, but I think we should bill based on how much time it shaves off of our lifespan rather than actual time spent.

My Hunter Biden take is that if you make your whole schtick "the other guys put themselves above the country, undermine the rule of law, and lie constantly" then you need to have a much higher standard for yourself than pardoning your son after saying you wouldn't.

I've said this before, but the fact that legal academia (especially at top schools) has significantly turned away from concern with doctrine—in helping judges figure out how to resolve hard cases—creates an opportunity for those lawprofs who want to have actual influence on how law develops.

The RTI idea that Tier 1 instruction should meet the needs of 80-85% of students is not true at the classroom level, and it’s a major driver of the achievement gap.

RTI tiers are *population-level* figures. Students are not randomly distributed among classrooms.

I love audiobooks, but if listening were reading we wouldn't need phonics

Everybody knows listening is not the same thing as reading. Some people pretend not to understand the distinction in the context of audiobooks, I guess because they attach moral value to Being A Reader
Apropos of nothing, anybody who says that audiobooks aren’t “real” reading or that people who use them aren’t “real” readers can kiss both my ass and my royalty statement.

If he'll drive you to the criming, he's a Fed 👏👏
If you can't get there without him
And you don't know much about him
If he'll drive you to the criming, he's a Fed 👏👏
after another long day of browsing old court documents, i just want to remind everyone that if a stranger agrees to do something illegal with you and they keep asking you to say out loud what the illegal plan is, that’s because the officer is recording you.
