Behn: My biggest pet peeve in politics is when people who don’t live in the South say, “You get what you voted for.” I didn’t vote for the highest maternal mortality rate in the country. I didn’t vote for the highest inflationary cost of groceries in the country.

New from me at Cato: Trump's penalty orders have taken a scary new turn, selecting targets for having taken a stand on behalf of the integrity of the U.S. election system, and ordering the Dept. of Justice to investigate an evidently innocent man, Chris Krebs. /1 www.cato.org/blog/new-rev...
In New Orders, Trump Targets Foes of His Stolen-Election Claims

powerful detailed account of ICE captivity

I’m the Canadian who was detained by Ice for two weeks. It felt like I had been kidnapped
I was stuck in a freezing cell without explanation despite eventually having lawyers and media attention. Yet, compared with others, I was lucky

Folks, this isn’t about crippling “the left”. This is about crippling any American who dares to object or oppose him, by labeling them “the left”.
part of what's happening here, i think, is that trump and his toadies do not believe that there is such a thing as legitimate opposition to him. instead, it has all but drummed up by various nefarious elites. go after the law firms, they think, and there will be no opposition.
With Orders, Investigations and Innuendo, Trump and G.O.P. Aim to Cripple the Left
The president and his allies in Congress are targeting the financial, digital and legal machinery that powers the Democratic Party and much of the progressive political world.

This country has seen some bad moments in the 61 years, 5 months, 16 days I’ve been on this Earth. But it has never, ever before come close to the supertoxic level of stupidity, mendacity, narcissism, nihilism, and moral apathy that threaten to destroy it today.

Would be a shame if some “super sleuth” found their parent’s addresses and the local news showed up for interviews. Just to ensure that we, the taxpayers have the background on these folks. Maybe some digging into contacts to other governments?

No matter what our government mandates, no matter what Congress legislates, no matter what the dictator dictates, the constitution of Mother Nature is immune to the petty opinions of people. Her spectrum is far too vast for the simple binaries of American politics. This comforts me.

Over 2+ years of working on a biography of Elon Musk, I've learned that his ambitions are significantly grander than anyone realizes. He wants to be the first trillionaire ever. He wants to be the most famous human who ever lived. He wants to rule the world. He wants to live forever.

All literally.
